THE HONEYBEES – Canopy Theatre Beccles – Sat 3rd June 2023 7.30 p.m.
All Award-winning singer/songwriters in their own right, Amy Goddard, Odette Michell and Zoe Wren met at Cambridge Folk Festival in 2019 and found that their voices blended so well together that they decided there and then to form a trio and the Honeybees were born.
All three artists have continued successful solo careers, other collaborations and side projects, but they return to playing together whenever they can find the opportunity in their busy schedules. All have played successful solo shows for Martello Promotions and now they will play together in the perfect acoustic setting of the Canopy Theatre.
They all write great songs with strong storytelling and sing so well and when they sing together the harmonies they weave are really special. The show may have the appearance of a standard “Songwriters’ Circle”, but the performance is much more than that, with carefully crafted arrangements that add a new dimension to their solo renditions of original songs and some well-chosen covers.
All three have received FATEA Awards, Amy for “Song of the Year” (2016), Odette as “Female Artist of the Year” (2019) and Zoe for “Debut Album of the Year” (2021). Instrumentally Amy plays guitars, Odette plays guitar and bouzouki and Zoe adds guitar and mandolin.
Amy has released 4 albums, the third of which “Always A Dreamer” made number 2 in the “Albums of the Year” poll in Country Music People magazine and her latest album “Rise” received excellent reviews in magazines such as “Songlines” and “RnR”.
Odette has recorded an EP and one album to date (“The Wildest Rose”) and has a second ready for release in the near future. Her album received **** reviews in Maverick and RnR magazines
Zoe has released numerous EPs (including several with Jasmine Watkiss as Roswell) and her debit album “Reckless River” received rave reviews in addition to the FATEA Award.
The quality of their music is exceptional and this is a show that you will not want to miss.
